GET TO KNOW / AC708

Comfort for the journeys you make every day.

The AC708 is a touring passenger tyre for the school run, the daily commute and longer trips on sealed roads. Its symmetrical tread brings together a supported centre, substantial shoulder blocks and four main drainage grooves, giving each part of the pattern a practical job to do.

Comfort starts with the way the tread meets the road. Repeating sections vary in length to spread their contact noise across different frequencies, rather than concentrating it into a single hum. Through the centre and shoulders, connected rubber and larger blocks help the tread hold its shape as the car changes direction. The main grooves and smaller connecting channels give rainwater a route out of the contact area.

NEW ZEALAND DRIVING

Everyday comfort, from town to the open road.

A practical choice for New Zealand commuters and family cars travelling mainly on sealed roads. The AC708’s focus on tread-noise control, water drainage and steering support suits the mix of suburban streets, motorway journeys and weekend road trips that makes up everyday Kiwi driving.

PURPOSE IN THE PATTERN

The details behind the drive.

01

Less repetitive tread noise

Different-length tread sections help spread contact noise across a range of frequencies, reducing the repetitive sound of the tyre rolling along the road.

02

Water drainage in the wet

Four wide grooves run around the tyre, connected by smaller channels that help move water away from the contact area.

03

Support through turns

A connected centre strip limits tread movement, while substantial shoulder blocks help support road contact when cornering.

Understanding load ratings, ply ratings & UTQG

Load / speed: the load index and speed symbol identify the tyre’s rated capacity and speed category. A pair of load indexes gives the single and dual fitment ratings. Match your vehicle’s requirements.

XL and ply rating: XL identifies an extra-load tyre. A ply rating describes a strength category; it is not a count of the physical layers in the sidewall.

¹ UTQG: shown as treadwear / traction / temperature. These are comparative test grades, not a mileage promise. The traction grade relates to straight-line wet braking, rather than cornering.

KNOW YOUR SIZE

Look on your tyre’s sidewall.

Find a marking like the example below on the side of your tyre.

205/55 R16
205
Width — the tyre’s nominal width in millimetres.
55
Profile — sidewall height as a percentage of the width.
R
Construction — R means radial.
16
Wheel size — the wheel diameter in inches.

Enter 205/55R16 or 205 55 16 in the size finder.

Different markings or a 4WD size?

Some tyres use an inch-based size such as 31x10.50R15: nominal diameter, width and wheel diameter, all in inches. Enter the complete size as shown. Commercial sizes such as 195R14 are also supported.

Letters such as LT, XL or run-flat markings describe additional requirements. The numbers and letter after the size, such as 91V, are load and speed ratings. Check these against your vehicle’s requirements too.

Check the vehicle’s tyre placard or handbook as well as the current tyres. Front and rear sizes can differ. Your retailer can confirm the right fitment.
