GET TO KNOW / AC718

Steering support. Everyday practicality.

The AC718 combines an asymmetric performance tread with the practical demands of commuting, motorway travel and weekend journeys. Broad central ribs form connected bands of rubber through the pattern, while substantial shoulder blocks support its outer edges.

Those supported sections help limit tread movement through bends and lane changes. Elsewhere, four main grooves work with smaller connecting channels to carry water away from the area touching the road. The asymmetric layout gives the tread room to balance drainage with the structure needed for steering and cornering, making it a performance-focused option for everyday sealed-road use.

NEW ZEALAND DRIVING

From the daily commute to a winding weekend route.

The AC718’s combination of steering support and water drainage suits the priorities of New Zealand drivers choosing a performance road tyre. It is a road-focused option for everyday commuting and longer sealed-road journeys, with size-specific load and speed ratings to match your vehicle.

PURPOSE IN THE PATTERN

The details behind the drive.

01

Support through corners

Broad central ribs and substantial shoulder blocks limit tread movement, helping support steering response and contact with the road.

02

Connected water channels

Four main grooves and smaller connecting channels give water a path away from the tyre’s contact area.

03

Handling for daily driving

The tread layout balances handling support with road comfort. Choose the size, load index and speed rating that match your vehicle.

Understanding load ratings, ply ratings & UTQG

Load / speed: the load index and speed symbol identify the tyre’s rated capacity and speed category. A pair of load indexes gives the single and dual fitment ratings. Match your vehicle’s requirements.

XL and ply rating: XL identifies an extra-load tyre. A ply rating describes a strength category; it is not a count of the physical layers in the sidewall.

¹ UTQG: shown as treadwear / traction / temperature. These are comparative test grades, not a mileage promise. The traction grade relates to straight-line wet braking, rather than cornering.

KNOW YOUR SIZE

Look on your tyre’s sidewall.

Find a marking like the example below on the side of your tyre.

205/55 R16
205
Width — the tyre’s nominal width in millimetres.
55
Profile — sidewall height as a percentage of the width.
R
Construction — R means radial.
16
Wheel size — the wheel diameter in inches.

Enter 205/55R16 or 205 55 16 in the size finder.

Different markings or a 4WD size?

Some tyres use an inch-based size such as 31x10.50R15: nominal diameter, width and wheel diameter, all in inches. Enter the complete size as shown. Commercial sizes such as 195R14 are also supported.

Letters such as LT, XL or run-flat markings describe additional requirements. The numbers and letter after the size, such as 91V, are load and speed ratings. Check these against your vehicle’s requirements too.

Check the vehicle’s tyre placard or handbook as well as the current tyres. Front and rear sizes can differ. Your retailer can confirm the right fitment.
